This is the town I've been visiting when I'm able. Actually it's been a while since I've been there but I'm hoping to return. They claim to have an amazing watermelon crop and even have a festival during the summer to prove it. Population: 4,691 as of the 2000 census.

From a distance, I could sense an atmosphere of fierce competition. Once I approached a group of guys playing dominoes, my feeling proved accurate. It was fun though and I appreciated these guys letting me hang out with them a little bit and make pictures during there game.

Tire Shop

This is from a small town an hour outside of Houston that I've been taking some photos at. I spotted some fellas sitting outside the tire shop they worked at. About five or six people honked there horns in the short time I was chatting with them. Each horn honk was given a friendly wave. "Everyone knows us around here," the guys said. "People are honking at us all day long."

Nugget Ratio

This is a sign that Moni and I saw last weekend while going through a drive-thru. Gone are the days, at least at this place, when a person could purchase their nuggets and request a few sauces. A Nuggets-to-Sauce Ratio chart has been posted for our convenience. The problem though is that the brains behind the chart feels that two sauces will be adequate for 10 nuggets. And more surprisingly, that three sauces will suffice for 20 nuggets. There's no way. Someone needs to recalculate this chart. Or maybe I just really dig that sauce.

After pulling into a friend's house the other day, I noticed some kids playing in a tree. They said it was their 'tree house' even though the 'tree' was only about 9 feet tall and it looked more like a bush. It's too bad because at many of the apartment complexes there aren't playgrounds for the kids. But there are lots of kids. All they have are each other and their imaginations. After making small talk I took this kids photo as he was lying in his tree house.

Parking Lot Tree

I just like the colors. I pulled into a Target parking lot briefly when this red shopping cart cruised by me and stopped at a parking lot tree.

Helado is the spanish word for ice cream. I saw this guy, Jerry, selling some so I pulled over to see what the deal was. He was taking a break from selling ice cream. He's from a Puebla, Mexico and he's been vending ice cream for four years.

The Flower Man

I passed this house and asked a nearby resident what the deal was with this place. Apparently they call him the Flower Man and he takes whatever stuff he finds or people leave him (mostly toys), and decorates his own place. This is the front door to his little inner-city lot. This door is a reflection of his entire lot. I took a photo of his house and front fence line but I'm not posting it because it would be too much visual stimulation. Here's an interesting link for further info.
