Gulf of Mexico

These posts are part of some type of barrier that will be placed in front of the homes that are built along the Gulf of Mexico in Galveston. I didn't take the photo 'cause I think posts are cool, I was just drawn into the dark skies and the scene itself. And no I don't have swine flu.

Waterfall

This is from San Antonio just like the last post. San Antonio has a lot of water downtown due to a river that runs through it.

Sweet Shades

I spotted this Chihuahua with sunglasses in San Antonio. The lady that owned the dog said she bought the glasses from New York City. They're funny glasses but what gets me is that they're clear. They should at least be coated with some type of UV for the dog's eyes.

Market Day

This was down Airline Drive in Houston (hispanic district) where one of the major markets are in town. It's sort of like the Sam's Club of farmer's markets. The difference is that when you're done shopping you can get lots of food for about $10 rather than $100. I say this because instead of buying a dozen eggs for $2, you can get 30 eggs for $2. Also, they sell red peppers in quantities of six. Also $2. You get the idea. Anyway, this photo is from that place.

This was from a drive I took the other day just outside of Houston.

Lockhart

This was at Black's BBQ, a restaurant in Lockhart, TX that has been family owned since 1932. Texas legislature actually passed a proclamation naming Lockhart the "Barbecue Capital of Texas" so it's no surprise that the food was indescribably good.

Church Parking

This is a small church I saw while driving through Hempstead, TX.

Coke

I'm not much of a pop ('soda' as they say here) guy but it's been a while since I've seen Coke in a bottle so I had to get one. Down here they come from Mexico and...fun fact- they're supposed to be good because they're made with real sugar cane instead of high fructose corn syrup.

The Alamo

Last weekend Moni's parents, her and I visited the Alamo in San Antonio and this is from that. The photo was taken right outside the gift shop.

Hempstead

This is the town I've been visiting when I'm able. Actually it's been a while since I've been there but I'm hoping to return. They claim to have an amazing watermelon crop and even have a festival during the summer to prove it. Population: 4,691 as of the 2000 census.

Dominos

From a distance, I could sense an atmosphere of fierce competition. Once I approached a group of guys playing dominoes, my feeling proved accurate. It was fun though and I appreciated these guys letting me hang out with them a little bit and make pictures during there game.

Tire Shop

This is from a small town an hour outside of Houston that I've been taking some photos at. I spotted some fellas sitting outside the tire shop they worked at. About five or six people honked there horns in the short time I was chatting with them. Each horn honk was given a friendly wave. "Everyone knows us around here," the guys said. "People are honking at us all day long."

Nugget Ratio

This is a sign that Moni and I saw last weekend while going through a drive-thru. Gone are the days, at least at this place, when a person could purchase their nuggets and request a few sauces. A Nuggets-to-Sauce Ratio chart has been posted for our convenience. The problem though is that the brains behind the chart feels that two sauces will be adequate for 10 nuggets. And more surprisingly, that three sauces will suffice for 20 nuggets. There's no way. Someone needs to recalculate this chart. Or maybe I just really dig that sauce.
