Sugarloaf ski area
There are a lot of photos here. This is from the old Sugarloaf ski area. I'd been here maybe one or two times prior to the resort closing which I believe took place around 12 years ago. So unfortunate. It's a beautiful area and it wasn't until about halfway through my adventure that I noticed a sizable area of poison ivy so I'm hoping I managed to stay clear of it. The photo of the red lift (the second photo) reminds me of the Star Trek Enterprise.

Water and astronomy
Here are a few photos from the last week. The Great Wakes Festival was wonderful it's just too bad the weather may have kept some people inside. The telescope that is in the foreground had a special filter on it which allowed a person to see sun spots.

"We don't even care whether or not we care"
I saw this turtle today after leaving the Y. I asked it to smile and this is what I was given. There's a river on one side of the drive and a swamp/pond on the other side so aside from cars and photographers traveling past, I'd say it leads a pretty content life.

Perrin's Landing
Perrin's Landing is a small place just down the road on Lake Leelanau. There's a boat access, a restaurant and a small community of houses nearby. On 'Gut Rot' Wednesday's you can get a hot dog, or a hamburger, for $1.25. It is also home to one of the best reuben sandwiches I've ever had.

Leckrone
It wasn't until recently, within the last few months, that I found out that there's a road named after my Grandma King's side of the family (Leckrone was her maiden name and the house/farm she grew up on is still there!). So I drove out to see where this was the other day. It's a fun adventure checking out the area because it's not too far from where my grandpa is from so regardless of where I am there's a certain joy in wandering past the same hills, trees and sights that my grandparents did in their formative years.
A surprise came in the form of this metal sculptures of scooter riders I saw while traveling down Leckrone Road.

Moon Light
The moon was pretty bright last night and I was having fun with the interesting light. My buddy was having a bonfire at the same time so it added some nice light to the scenes.
