Barney's
Some of my fondest memories are in Hubbard Lake, MI (near Alpena) which is where my mom grew up. My cousin used to say I better not look for a girls around there 'cause chances are we're related. Well anyhow, my cousin got married a short while ago (to an unrelated girl-she's super cool) and that gave me the chance to drive around a little. The thing about this area is that if you step outside, you can hear absolutely nothing. It's spooky and peaceful all at the same time. Mostly peaceful. When there's not a Wal-Mart for miles, you know you're in the country. When I was around 10 years old I was one of the last customers to go to Barney's (this general store) on the corner of the road where my mom grew up. My mom used to get candy here when she was young also and from the same guy. Needless to say Barney passed away but I thought it was cool that the place was at least still there.

Mila
This is long overdue but my girlfriend's rabbit, Mila (Bulgarian for sweety), passed away last month on Valentines Day of all days. So this post is dedicated to Mila. The photo is from last Christmas. Don't let the scoul fool you, this rabbit was loved, given treats and spent a whole summer on the deck of Monica's parents house. She may have had a serious attitude, and an appetite to match, but the rabbit was awesome.

Bar
From an assignment in a bar last week. The story was karaoke, but the photo is just this patron.
Shooting in small bars is kind of funny to me. Especially when there's not enough people to make it crazy enough, and there's not enough people to make it intimate enough. I can feel all the eyes around the room staring at what I'm doing and I remember being slightly nervous when I first began photojournalism, but it's definitely something that became easier with time.

Holga
It's been so busy lately with basketball playoffs and taking stills as well as video during the same game. But I managed to process of 120 film from my Holga so here are a couple from the camera. I'm hoping to take more photos but it's pricey to get the photos processed and put onto a CD where I go. I'm hoping to find an expensive place to take the film because I love my Holga. These are just some photos I recently took. I was trying to burn through my roll of film so I took a photo of my girl and one of this super run down motel that I often pass. It's called El Rancho, however as you can see, the 'l' fell off.
